On November 16-17, the "Eighth National Archaeological Forum for College Students" hosted by the Archaeological Institute of Jilin University and the Research Center of Chinese Frontier Archaeology was held in Changchun. Cai Lidong, vice president of Jilin University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.Representatives of teachers and students from 27 domestic universities and research institutes, including Peking University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, participated in the forum.
At the opening ceremony, Zhao Binfu, Dean of the School of Archaeology of Jilin University, delivered a speech on behalf of the conference organizer. Professor Yang Yimin of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered a speech as a teacher representative, and Ma Ning, a doctoral student at Peking University, delivered a speech as a student representative.
At the forum, Professor Zhu Hong and Professor Yang Jianhua from the School of Archaeology of Jilin University gave a theme report on "Research on Human Skeletal Archaeology of Jilin University" and "Mutual Evidence between Historical Documents and Archaeological Research-Case Study of Rong Di and Hu".
This forum was divided into four sub-forums: "Pre-Qin Archaeology", "Historical Archaeology", "Science Archaeology" and "Cultural Heritage and Museums". The students reported their new discoveries and new understandings on different topics.Experts from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northeast Normal University, and Jilin University conducted in-depth reviews on each paper, pointed out the shortcomings of the students in the current stage of research, put forward corresponding suggestions, and selected the winners of each sub forum based on the quality of the papers.
At the closing ceremony, commentators from each sub-forum made concluding remarks. Zhao Binfu issued certificates to the award-winning students.
It is reported that the National University Student Archaeology Forum was held in Jilin University for the first time in 2004, aiming to build an academic exchange platform for students majoring in archaeology, cultural relics and museology across the country, and stimulate the enthusiasm of young students for scientific research.At present, this forum has become a high-end forum among similar domestic forums, which has won high praise from domestic brother units and played an important leading role in the cultivation of high-level, high-quality successor talents of Chinese archaeology.
